Angels, Apparitions, and Revelations
How do I explain the inexplicable? Words fail to fully articulate what happens in my studio. After all, how is it that a glorious angel, magnificent beyond my limited artistic capabilities, upon further reflection, also incorporates the image of the crucified Christ, especially when neither one was drawn or planned?
At first glance, these works may simply appear to be a collection of beautiful abstract, yet ethereal, paintings. But the longer I look, the more I see. Truly, there is something more happening here! Something of the unseen, the supernatural, the sacred, the spiritual, the Divine.
Some paintings have dropped me to my knees in overwhelming awe and wonder. Others have evoked impassioned tears at the recognition of my unworthiness to create such images. Many have had tremendous impact, leaving me profoundly changed forever.
I cannot begin to understand it, or to explain it. It is enough that I believe it.
I am not in control of this process. My works are not my own. I am merely an instrument. In the midst of accepting all my inability to accomplish the level of paintings I once desired, these works came into being, not through my skill or to highlight my talent, but to bring glory to a power far greater than mine. All credit and glory belong to Him. I release these paintings only in His name. In so doing, perhaps others will also have the opportunity to see the “something more.”
